Fined 5s and costs 7s.
The Police charged John Stafford with supplying liquor alter hours and Ellen Alary Taker (licensee Greyhound Hotel) with exposing liquor. Air Joyce for defendants, pleaded guilty. '1 wo other charges were then withdrawn. Defendants were lined 20s and costs /» each.

Williams (Mr Park) claim £42 Is Bd. The plaintiff stated that the defendant had given an order which was not paid. The defendant claimed the order was not a valid one and that the order given was an assignment, and was not stamped. Alter hearing counsel his Worship reserved judgment. DISPUTED ACCOUNT. J A Dowell (-Mr Sellers) v. W. IT. Roberts (Mr Park) claim for board yml lodging, C 3. Defendant counter chained for wages £36, at £1 per pe,. week. Plaintiff gave evidence that the amount claimed for board was correct and unpaid; that defendant bad not worked for plaintiff during 1923. During tbe period claimed, defendant was working for Lovett Bros., -who paid witness for defendant’s board while be was working for l.evett Bros. From Jan. to Oct. 11)23, defendant did not work' a day for witness. William Lovett deposed lie was a farmer and builder. Defendant left the employ of witness on 7th March. over 12 months defendant had worked for and stopped with witness, except when witness paid Dowell for defendant’s board. From Bth January- to September 1923, defendant was working for witness and it as paid by him. Roberts, tbe defendant, deposed he staved with Dowell, who asked him on 22nd Dec. to come up and kill some sheep. He killed several sheep. He did not expect to be charged for tlie board. Witness when carting butter milk for Levelt also worked for Dowell. He only carted tbe butter milk for Levett, about one hour a day, until lie left Dowells altogether. To the Bench.—Ho had never asked Dowell for payment of wages. and bad not intended to ask bun. if he had not claimed for the hoard. Judgment for plaintiff tor £3 and costs £3 11s. Defendant was nonsuited on tbe counter claim v and costs £3 3s to counsel allowed a„ain. him. -
