A STRIKE EXPECTED. DENUDIN', April M
Several local railway employees when interviewed last night, expressed the opinion that tile Government made some satisfactory wages adjustment oil a 14-llour week basis, for under no circumstances whatever would a 48-hour week be considered, a .strike would almost certainly lollow.
“There is a general feeling of discontent” said one “for we do not consider that the Government has treated, us fairly. "Whenever there is to be i cut in the wages, it appears that the railway service is the first to sailer.” He remarked also that theirs was one of the poorest paid of all the l.epartments. A good deal of resentment is expressed among railway-men at the issue of the Department anonymous circular which is regarded as a tactical blunder calculated to strengthen the men in support of their executive. One prediction that can he given some weight is that although no strike is likely eailiei than Tuesday, there may he sensational developments rivalling the 1913 strike.

Twin brothers named Gilbert, aged 16. were killed and another passenger named Weeks injured, in an u'ln-mil railway accident at Hornshv. !>e brothers had their heads out of the carriage windows and were struck «.th terrific force by the open door ot a passing express train. Weeks had his elbow on the-sill of a window and Inarm was broken in several places.
