CHRISTCHURCH, April 4. There will be no green jerseys on the Rugby fields of Christchurch this season. The Marist Old Roys’ Football Club lias decided to sever its association with the Canterbury-Rugby Union. The Club claims that the Union's ; action in calling a meeting of delegates for to-morrow evening has come ' i too late. “i In the concluding portion of its letter conveying this decision to the Union' the Club’s Executive says:—“We wish 1 it to be uiulertsood that this reply Is not meant to convey any reflection on the Rugby Union, or the proposed i meeting ol delegates. Tile Afarist Club 'j has suffered so much because of the 1 i long-enduring suspension of its 200 1 j members that some of the consequences 5 j are now irreparable. Ail Football ' , Clubs know that their organisation det; mauds enthusiasm and encouragement, '' but there is no man connected with the L , Marist Club who could, at this stage, 5 ' undertake the task of reorganising the ■; Marist llrol.bers Old Boys’ Football *, Club as an affiliated Rughv Club with 1 any prospect of satisfactory results. The Marist Old Boys’ Association will 1 revert to its original status, as a pure--1 ]y social organisation, leaving adhes--1 ion to any outdoor game purely a mat- • j ter for any member or group of mem--1 hers. Further details are being deeid- ■ . cl at the annual meeting of the Asso- ! eiation.”

“The Rugby Fniou meeting will ho held just the same,” said Mr S. F. Wilson (Chairman of the Canterbury Rugby Union) this afternoon. “We will reply to the statement of the Marist brothers flub which has appeared in the papers.”
