AUSTRALIAN AMI N.Z. CABLE ASB'ICIATtO... FU!!Oi’EAN EI.ECI JONS. LONDON, April I. Interest is deepening in the fourthcoming elections in Germany and France. The latter are fixed for Afav 11, a week later than the German elections. It is stated that this date was deliberately chosen, as it is expected that aniticipated reactionary successes in Germany will influence the French electors in M. Poincare's favour. It is significant in this connection that Die programme of the German People’s Baity was drawn up at a meeting at Hanover, presided over by Dr Stresseinanii iex-Chaneellor) who declared that that Party would light under the old black, white and red colours. He hoped for a restoration of (he German power and greatness under a Democratic Monarchy. It is noteworthy that while Dr Stressmann was announcing his support of a Monarchical programme, the Chancellor, Dr Marx, speaking at Hanover, declared that a victory of the German Chauvinistic Nationalist movement at the election would ruin Germany. The Octogenarian, Count Kosputh, lias written a book fulsomely lauding the ex-Kaiser, in which he «•: edits him with saying:-- “Tlte German people will never entirely understand me. 1 would have been a much Letter man for the French.”
