AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. BOOTLEGGERS. WASHINGTON, April 1. A Federal Grand Jury investigating the so-called Bootleg Syndicates, indicted twenty-seven, including a police lieutenant, three Deputy Federal Marshals, policemen, marines and other minor officials. The indictments alleged a conspiracy wherein liquor was brought into Washington by two porters employed on a sleeping ear, "lienee it n ;is thereafter distributed with joI ice protection to various business' houses and individuals.
