"While carrying out some work at Christchurch on Wednesday in connection with a psychological experiment he intended to perform, Prolessor J. Shelley had the misfortune to injure the first finger of lii.s right hand by contact with a saw, necessitating a painful operation. Professor Shelley is not likely to lose the use of the finger.
No news lias yet been received in official circles in regard fo the successor to Lord Jellicoe as Governor-Gen-eral of New Zealand. In reply t-o a question on Tuesday, the Prime Alinister said that he had heard nothing in regard to the next appointment.
