HOKITIKA GOLF CLUB.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. 'The annual general meeting of the Hokitika Golf Club was held in iLo Education Board Rooms lasi night, 2<j members being present, Mr J. C . Alacfarlnue in the Chair. 'I he minules of the last annual meeting and a special general meeting were confirmed. annual report. I have the honour to report ns follows on the operations of the past year. Very fine weather was enjoyed, postponement of matches being the exception rather than the rule. Club competitions resulted thus:—• Champiuii-hip (Pcrlmm Cup) Mr.l. A. Chesney ; Medal Handicap Aggregate (Cranston Vase) —Air I*. .1. Perliam ; Bogie Handicap Aggregate (Captain’s trophy)-—Mr 1‘- 4 ■ Perhaiu ; Limit Match (Secretary’s trophy)—Air F. Brodie: Opening Foursome (Club trophy) Mrs Staveley and All Brodie; Nominated Foursome, Miss Lewis and Air Neville; Final Foursome (Club trophy )—A.I rs Irvine and Mr rieeheek. Tiie usual inter-Club matches were played, Greyinout!i winning on each occasion.

The West Const Golf Tournament was contested at Westport in September, 1 heavy gales and rain marring the meeting. Unfortunately very tew of our members could make I lit l trip. However, our representatives although not attaining Championship honours, managed to carry off one or two of the minor events. The Club was represented at the meeting of delegates by Messrs Che-ncy and Pratt, the Omoto Links. Gi eymoutli, being chosen as the convincing ground for the next Championships. A .satisfactory arrangement has been made regarding the grazing ol the Club’s property, and M. K rakowskv has been appointed griiiimi-iiian. Tt inuticipnted that the links will he in splendid order during the coming season. and i- to he hoped that a policy for the general improvement ol the course will be persevered with. On behalf of your Committee, 1 have to recommend that the 1.024 season he opened on Saturday next, when the usual mixed foursome- be played. The balance -beet for 1023-2-1 v. ill now l.e read by the lion Treasurer, and t discloses, oil the whole, a vci> satisfactory position. In concluding, the thanks of the Club are due to the press for publishing drawings and results of the various matches. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The following officers were then elected :—Captain, Afr J. C. Alaefarlane Hon Secretary, Air W. Staveley, Hon Treasurer. Mr J. AY. Alorris ; committee —Alesdamcs Afaefnrlnne and Staveley, Afessrs Chesney, Perliam. Irvine. Brodie and Bain. Fourteen new members were elected. The Captain presented the trophies won during the season, the Ladies’ Champin',nsliin being won by Miss Afoore. and the Club Championship by Afr J. \. Chesney. Various matters affecting the Club were discussed and dealt with, the Captain congratulating members oil the very satisfactory state of affairs. The meeting terminated with the usual compliment to the chair. HOKITIKA LADIES’ CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Ladies’ Club was held in the Education Board Rooms prior to tiie general meeting. Airs .T. C. ALiofarlnne being in the chair. annual report. Your Committee begs to submit the following report on the operations of

the Club for the past year. The season was a most favourable one. Nearly all the players lowered their handicaps. Four players did scores entitling them to play in Silver Medal Grade, and three junior players calmed t.heir L.G.U. handicaps. All the matches set down on the list were played off very satisfactorily owing to the fine dry season. During the year No fj and 12 holes were shortened. Members are much indebted to Airs J. C. Macfarlane. Airs Langford, Airs AY. AY ilson and Aliss Al.oore for presenting trophies for competitions, also the ladies committee for printed match and tea lists which wore very useful. Our thanks are also due to the Hokitika Guardian Management for their great kindness in publishing reports of matches.

The principal matches played during

the season were the monthly medals

and Bogey scores for the Bcare Bowl, the latter Long held for the ensuing year by Airs Tomlinson.

Tbe Senior Championship was won by Aliss Afoore and the .Junior Championship by Airs Pilkington. This year unfortunately there was no competition for the Silver Afedal. there being only one player in the Silver Afedal Grade, owing to the Handicaps being re-adjusted.

Tlio Bronze Afedal was won by Mrs Neville, the Senior Eclectic !>v Aliss Afoore. the Junior Eclectic by Airs Pilkington. Aliss Afoore's trophies were won by Airs Boyd and Airs Tomlinson, Airs Baird’s trophies by Aliss Afoore and Aliss Michel, Airs Brodie’s trophy by Airs Wtaveley, Airs Langford’s trophy by All's AfcCaskill, Airs Wilson’s trophies by Airs Ab-Caskill and .Mrs Brodie. In addition to the usual matches with Greymout.il we had 2 friendly games, one at Greymouth and a return match on our own Links with a number of junior members playing. AVe also bad a one club competition which was won by Airs Houston and a match against the men with adjusted handicaps, but the men were far too strong, winning by Ft mutches to 7. The General Committee managed the Saturday teas quite successfully, everything working very smoothly. The AA’est Const Championships were held at AA'estport this year. Airs AlcCa,skill and Airs Wilson did very well. Airs AleCaskill won the Best Afedal round and Ali-s AA'ilson and her partner winning the 4-Ball Match. AA'e are very pleased to welcome a number of new members joining this season and as the Club is growing your Committee recommend a Handicap •Manager so as to lessen the work of the Secretary.

As we have bad a good season financially, your Committee wish to suggest that n sum, to be decided upon, be banded to the General Committee to bo used for improvements to the Club House. We hope that tli.e coining season may be as successful as the past one, and that all members will do their utmost to make it so. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follows: Captain. Airs J. C. Afaefarlane ; Hon. Secretary, Airs Staveley; Handicap Alanager, Aliss Afoore, who together' with Airs Brodio constitute the Committee. It was resolved that in future tlio monthly medal competition for tlio bronze medal be played on Wednesday and that for the silver medal on Saturday. The season will lie opened at the Alahinapua Links to-morrow, when a .Mixed Foursome over 13 holes is set down for competition. All play from men’s tees. Draw and handicaps as follows:
