NO COMPETITION.

THE WEMBLEY EXHIBITION. WELLINGTON, March 18. The board of the British Empire Exhibition announces its decision on the question of awards. Many representative exhibitors pressed strongly that awards on the competitive system usually adopted at exhibitions should not v c made, and it was felt that the difficulties experienced at past exhibitions in assessing effectively different exhibits under this system would be enormously increased at the Wnmhlo' "Exhibition, where the only competition would be among exhibits of various parts of the Empire. Steps were therefore taken to ascertain whether exhibitors would not pro- i for. mi the interests of everyone concerned, to abandon competitive awards altogether. The overseas Governments expressed themselves unanimously in favour of abandoning competition, while in the ease of the United Kingdom seetiejns an overwhelming majority of exhibitors was against the competitive system. The board of the Exhibition lias therefore amended the regulations, and a commemorative medal, accompanied by a decorative certificate, will be awarded to each exhibitor who lias rented space in the United Kingdom section. Tndia, the dominions, colonics.' protectorates and mandated territories will receive for distribution amongst ihoir exhibitors a sufficient supply of identical medals and certificates. Exhibitors participating in collective exhibits of products and manufactures organised by the 1 uit-cd Kingdom or overseas Governments, or iu the art and scientific research exhibits organised by Governments, associations and committees will receive a diploma of honour.
