DUNEDIN, March 17
The following' motion was discussed and carried unanimously by a meeting of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce to-night:—“That, while, not posing in any way as experts on naval or military matters, the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce strongly affirms the necessity for adequate protection .fojr the British trade routes in the Pacific both from a national and an Imperial standpoint, and respectfully urges the Prime Minister to take into consideration the question of an annual contribution from the Dominion towards naval defence in the Pacific, upon an equitable basis as between Britain, Australia and New Zealand and such other parts of the British Empire as may be directly concerned. It was resolved to forward’ the resolution to the various Chambers of Commerce for their approval. (Received this day at 11.25 n.m.) LONDON. March 17. In the Commons, Mr MacDonald announced that a statement of the Singapore policy would he made during the Navy Estimates. It would include a full disclosure of the Australian and New Zealand C< overnmeiits’ communications.
