TATIIAPF; SPOUTS. TAIHAI'E. March 15. Tile St Patrick's Day axemen's and Athletic Carnival commenced to-day in glorious weather, and there was a good attendance. A feature of the meeting was the use for the first time of an appliance to antomaticaly indicate the commented on by the axemen. Ibis appliance was invented by two meinsingle hitch, and was very favourably commented on hy the axemen. Ihs apliance was invented by two members hers o ftho Club, and is being protected. L. J.
