ORDUNA’S EXCESS LIQUOR SEIZED. (Received this day at 9.0 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 15 At the last minute unpleasantness occurred aboard the Orduna just before sailing for Hamburg alter a million dollar bond had been filed with the Federal authorities a- guarantee of her return to New York at the end of April. Customs officials removed twelve bottles of Scotch whisky which was in excess of tlie forty-two and a half gallons of spirits allowed bv the United States public health officers for medicinal use for the passengers and crew on the homeward journey. The authorities indicated that no special action would be taken, the belief being expressed that the excess was probably due to a misunderstanding.

REPRESENTATIVE DEMANDS RESIGNATION. [Rethkhs Tr.r.Ecn.VMS.l WASHINGTON, March 15. Representative Stevenson to-day demanded Mr Theodore Roosevelt to immediately resign his portfolio on the ground that Airs Roosevelt had ncqnired a thousand shares in the Sinclair Od Coy. which had obtained the Government leases. Stevenson declared that Roosevelt had a part in granting such leases and ho should not retain his portfolio. Representative T.ongworth, who m Roosevelt’s brother-in-law. defended him, declaring that Afrs Roosevelt’s property was her own and moroov et. she disposed of her stocks at a loss before the leases were granted. Stevenson and T.ongworth quarrelled, the former defying the latter to challenge his word outside the House of Representatives.
