MANSLAUGHTER.
MOGHAN’S SENTENCE. SENTENCE OF 12 YEARS. [BY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, .March 4. Anthony Moghari, who was found guilty at Wanganui of the manslaughter of Gordon John Goinmell at Raukue, near Taihape was to-day sentenced by Justice Reed to twelve years hard labour. BIS HONOR’S REMARKS. WELLINGTON, March 1. In passing .sentence, His Honor said the Jury had negatived any intention on the part of Aloghan to kill Gemmel and the jury were probably justified. The suggestion that others engaged with Aloghair could not he taken into consideration, Moghan’s record pointoil to him as being a man of brutal instincts. Ho had no doubt there was nothing like a fair fight. Gomniel’s aim was broken early and ho was practically defenceless. He could only say that it was an extremely brutal crime. Afoghan was fortunate that the Jury took a merciful view, and did not find him guilty of murder.
