Mr Justice Lush, heard legal argument in the case in which a speoial jury awarded Harnett twenty-five hundred damages. Dr Adams' Counsel submitted that Adams acted in good faith and therefore was entitled to judgment.
Plaintiff's counsel attacked the administration of the Lunacy Acts, pointing out that a mail ecu tilled as insane was not entitled t<» di-mand ccrt.ifiea tes.
Mr Justice Lush remarkeii': '‘.Nothing astonished me more in tile course of this serious ease than the filet that a man shut up in an asylum was! never allowed to'know why ho was shuts up.’
Dr Rond's counsel said he would submit to the Court of Appeal that the damages were excessive. Justice Lush reserved judgment.
