THE ALL BLACKS. THE AIANAGER QUESTION. [by TELEGRAM—I’ER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, February 19. The protest of the Otago Rugby Union against any appointment-of manager for the All Blacks team of 1921 belore next meeting of delegates was before the Wellington Union 10-niglit. Air Prenderville (chairman) expressed the opinion that the annual meeting, w-K not the place for an appointment to be made, or for a discussion of tins merits and demerits of the various gentlemen who might be considered for tin- position. He thought next year’s management committee should do the work. Air E. Deny: We are not interested. Air Prenderville : Well, you should bo It is a matter of much importance. Air Prenderville said the selection of a manager by the delegates, would lead to mueh log rolling. The Unions might be asked to nominate gentlemen for the position. There was no member of the present Management Committee who would flout the expressed wish of the annual meeting. All delegates' were agreed on the matter. Air Laws thought AYelliugton Union should ho with Otago up to a point. He understood an appointment- would not he made until the annual meeting. TiJoy should stand by Otago until the annual meeting Mas held, even it they thought tlie incoming committee should elect the manager. Members generally agreed l , and it was decided that this committee is of opinion that no appointments should f-e made until after the next- annual meeting of delegates.
CANTERBURY VIEWS. CHRISTCHURCH, February 19. The Canterbury Rugby Union passed a resolution that the appointment of Manager of the AH Black Team should not be made before the annual meeting of delegates to the Now Zealand It ugly Union, In regard to the trial games, it was suggested i hat- two games should he played on the same day at Lancaster I’ark to enable a good selection to he made. I! was moved that Canterbury and South Canterbury should play Otago and Southland, and Buller and AA'cstCoast- play Nelson, Golden Bay and Mai lborough. This was carried, and it was decided to send it- to tho New Zealand U nion a; a recommendation.
