SWIMMING RACES. Over 200 people were present at the Swimming Club’s Carnival last evening alio were treated to a good night's entertainment. Competition was again very keen in the swimming and diving events and the novelty events caused r.o end of amusement. One ingenious competitor in the Egg and Spoon Race :•,! Imys. attached a piece of chewing mini to the spoon. Needless to say. the egg stuck to the .spoon, enabling him to paddle along easily, hut even then he did not win. While the Carnival "as tu progress, a | orson slightly inebriated entered the enclosure and walked dangerously near iln edge of the Lath and later on es--ayo 1 lo ,-limb the diving stand, perch--1,!.. himself on lop of the stand, he attempted to perform some tricks known only lo himself, with the result that lie overbalanced and lell hendloug into lhe Bath. Two young girls, w 111, luiil learned In >u im in the local Bath- immediately plunged in. nlld elIc'led a gillant re-rue.
