At the Supreme Court, Russell Dvtos Martin pleaded not guilty "to six charges of theft of Union funds, and five of making false declarations. In outlining the case, All A. T. Dontuilv. Crown Prosecutor, said it was the duty of a person in Martin’s position to keep hooks or records that t-onkl bo cheeked or audited. Martin neglected to do that practically from the time he tool, up his duties, and it was impossible to ,-ay from his hooks and records what .stubs he honestly paid out. There was not a. single voucher for the moneys spent for the Bakers' Union. In iospoct to the moneys received and paid he was without chock or control, aim he took full advantage of it. In regard to the Shop Assistants' Union, there was no record of moneys paid out id two years. It was dear that money In longing to tin- Union had been converted by Martin to his own u.se. hut b;w much it was impossible to say. Several witnesses gave evidence on the line- of that given in the Lower Court, to the effect that no audit had been made of accounts by ,4liom as alii ned by accused. The Court adjourned till to-morrow
