AVON BY WESTPORT
Two rinks from tiie. visiting teams of the Westport Bowling Club to the Grey tournament came on to Hokitika on Saturday and played a game against Hokitika (tile holders) tor the Ballinger Buckles. Both rinks proved successful, that skipped by Mr Morgan becoming the ladders ol the Buckles. The green ran well, but was on the heavy-side, hut the play proved interesting throughout. Afternoon lea was provided by lady members. At the conclusion ot the play tue President (.Mr Win. Wilson) expressed the pleasure it had given the Club to welcome members of the Westport Club to the green, lie congratulated the team on their success anti tlieu presented the Ballinger Buckles to Ml Morgan amidst applause. Mr .Morgan ex pres ed tiie appreciation .... the team at the hearty welcome given, and especially the hospitality o[ the ladies. It was a pleasure to have- come to Hokitika, and they were gratified at having hcei: successful in winning the trophies. Cheeis were then given lor tin; two teams, the ladies and the Buckle holders. The scores were as follows: West port—BcrCs ford, Bara. Ahern and Morgan (s)—-21. Hokitika— \V. Wilson, Bishop, Aidridge. and Bain (s.) —li. Westport -Wood. Knight. Craig, and Kyan (s> —23. Hokitika— Blank, Boyd, fitovensun and H. Thompson (s) -■•‘2(l. Totals—Westport -17. Hokitika 18.
