An Anniversary Day
There are three outstanding days in die brief history of Australia, The first of these great days i,s that on which Dumpier sighted the west cost of Australia. The second great day is associated with the name ol Cook, the first Englishman to catch a glimpse of the east cost of this island continent. And the third great day is marked by Captain Arthur Phillip’s landing from bis fleet on the shores of Sydney Cove. Dumpier was the fust recorded Englishman to see Australia. Cook explored, charted, and finally took possession of the east coast of Australia in the liana- of his King anil country. These all- great distinctions.
