He was second as he passed the stand the first time, but he immediately went to the front, and never gave the others a look in. and he lapped two of Tasmania’s representatives. At the hell. Rose was 100 yards ahead of Hyde (Victoria), who was three hundred yards in front of Baillev (X.S.W.) Finishing with a great dash of speed Rose apssed the tape 200 yards ahead of Hyde, who beat Bailiey by three hundred yards. The New Zealander, who put- up 14min 54secs, had a fine reception from the spectators, his long easy action being greatly admired. New Zealand scored two wins, Victoria two seconds and N.S.W. one third to-day.
