A letter was read from tho Inanfjahua County Council setting forth its claims to bare tho main road from the .Tnangahua boundary, near Tnangahua Junction, to tho Big Grey Bridge, Iknjmitua, declared a Government road. They set out several reasons in support of the contention, mainly on tho ground of greatly depreciated rateable value. They also contended that it was a national road. Tho Grey County Council wrote suggesting that there be two Government roads in tho county—the road from Big Grey Bridge to Groymouth, and thence to Teremakuu Bridge, and the Groymouth to Westport const road. Furkert, 0. T. Murray and G. V. Godfrey, and would be visiting tbo Coast at an early date. The chairman saiiT that Mr Furkert would not he able to come and Mr Godfrey was shortly retiring from tbo Department. Mr Murray, however, would no doubt be coming. On bis motion it was decided to call a full meeting of the Council not later than Wednesday evening to discuss what recommendations should be brought before Mr Godfrey. Tho Board wrote asking various questions regarding the roads to be recommended as main highways. Tho Chairman said that the position was that they did not know where they stood.
