A settlement of the strike was first published in the for lit ol a biiel official .statement, at the close of an all-night conference bet ween the railway managers and locomotive 'men's I nion, with the Mediation Cominilt.ee in attendance. The Conference assembled shortly before midnight, and keenly debated the points at issue until the close at live in the morning. The terms of the settlement are not yet available, but Mr Bromley says these are very satisfactory to tin" men. Steps will lie immediately taken in hand for a resumption of work. I nion officials anticipate an almost normal service to-night.
