The race was within her grasp, when the shill of the Auckland crew turned the tables. The Linnet should have won but the Aucklanders clearly established their superiority. KONA WINS THE FINALS. The first race was closely contested. The Auckland boat sailed better and was more skilfully handled. The Canterbury boat sailed well, and at first secured the lead, but the Kona more than made up her leeway in the last two tacks and in the final run home, finished slightly ahead of the Linnet, after a splendid race.
