LATE LOCALS.
Inspector T. T. Hugo will inspect the Hokitika Fire Brigade to-night at 8 o’clock.
The Defence Department will bring out shortly a new issue ni the Army List, which will contain some new and interesting features states the “Post. The Lsuo, which should appear in I'obruary, will contain an up-to-date summary of the war services of all officers on the active list, and it will also contain a gradation list of officers of the permanent forces in a style similar to that of the Army List of the British Army. Some officers of the reserve and retired lists may he disappointed to find their names omitted from ine list, hut the reason in such eases is that the officers concerned have not renorted as they are required to do once every year, in January. The Department' finds it m-ossary. to keep these lists under constant revision, and the 'll nines of officers who do not report are put on a suspense list for one year, and after that are struck off if no report has been received.
