At Kumara Memorial Hall on Wednesday evening the residents ol Kumara and district filled the largo hall to overflowing on the occasion of the welcome extended to the first lady doctor to tlie West Coast. Dr I islier has been in Kumara but a few weeks, but in that short time, her kindness and attention to duly has won the respect of all she has come in contact with. Kumara is proud of her doctor. The welcome- took the form of a cancert, social, and dance. The mayor, Mr W. Benyon, presided, and Mr G. Head acted as Master of Ceremonies. The first part of the programme was a very neat concert and was followed by speeches of welcome by the Mayor, Messrs A. TL Spiers, J. Murphy and J. O’Brien, M.P. Mr 0. Head replied on behalf of the guest, of the evening.
