THE EXHIBITION.

0 ENTHRAL NOTES. The Dunedin Exhibition Committee is to be represented specially at the opening of the local Exhibition. The three Ministers who will be hero for the opening of the Exhibition, purpose visiting South Westland. Hon W. Downie Stewart and party will go south on Sunday afternoon, and Sir I*. D. Bell and Sir It. H. Rhodes on Tuesday. The latter remain here for the Progress League luncheon oil Monday.

Large quantities of exhibits are now being received at the Exhibition buildings, where till is hurry and bustle in pr t .’ partition for the opening on Saturday afternoon next. Bedding supplies are now being distributed by the Accommodation Committee.

The office at the Exhibition Buildings was open to-day. Miss \ . King is in charge. The office is situated at the east end of Groymouth avenue, not far from the main entrance. The teleplume number is 112. The Grey mouth Orchestral Society has forwarded the programme for the opening entertainment in the Orpheus Theatre next week. The programme is nn attractive one. There will he a very large number of performers, and no doubt a crowded house to greet the visitors.

The Exhibition Royal Orchestra, of which Mr W. Joyce is director, "ill provide the mu-ie for the dames and balls in connection with the Exhibition.

Visitors who are arriving continue to express surprise at the size oi the Exhibition. Tim preparations and general lay-out quite exceed their expectations. The whole arrangements

certainly give promise of being a great success. I’lie genera! organisation appears to he in keeping with the substantial proportions of the buildings. The Exhibition is receiving much general publicity. All the metropolitan papers are devoting special articles etc. to the undertaking. It is understood some of the ( Tiri-lchurch city papers will he publishing special issues in connection with the Exhibition. Reporters and photographers I rum several of the newspapers arc coming over to specially represent their publications at the opening oi the Exhibit ion. The Christchurch newspaper stands at the Exhibition in tin - main annexe promise to be attractively arranged.

Increased interest in northern Westland is being displayed in the Exhibition. The Muller exhibits have arrived, and the Grey district exhibits are being received to-day. I n.i'igahu.i and Ifrunnerton exhibits aie being forwarded to-morrow. The Coast promist's to he well represent'd. The art section prniubcs to he a strong one. A number of very fine pictures arc being receive I, including several valuable oil painli igs.

At a meeting of the Kin i ice C ommittec of tin' Exhibition Council on Saturdav forenoon it was reported t hat the receipts to date were £1276, and the expenditure £2650. ’Hie Committro analysed probable receipts and expenditure covering the w'r.n > Exhibit- on period and satisfaction was expressed at the promising result forecasted. The Postal Department has agreed to place a letter box in the Exhibition Buildings for the convenience of the public. The telephone (continuous service) Is established already. Arrangements may he made also at the office for the despatch of telegrams, forms being obtainable at the office. Rev. Pinclias. Scoutmaster, lias agreed to place two scouts at the service of the Exhibition Council lor duties in and about the building. The duty hours of the lads will he arranged through the Scoutmaster.

Quito a large number of public men in various parts of the Dominion have expressed I heir intention of being present at the opening of the Exhibition next Saturdav afternoon.
