British and Intercolonial Exhibition at Hokitika.
IP XT KRTAJN.MKNT COMM ITT'IvE. The Committee met at 7.1 A o’clock on Saturday evening at the County Chambers. Present :-Messrs .Idl'ries (chair), W. If. Berry, -I. It. Ward, W. Richards. L. Aldridge, ('. Gibbons and W. Joyce. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. \ quantity of correspondence was dealt with. Mr H. S. Hobbs, Christchurch, intimated that a concert party ~i three ladies ami three gentlemen could visit the Exhibition about 22nd Dec., and it was resolved to arrange accordingly. The date for the visit of the .Male Quartette party was not available yet.
Cluis. Bucket t enquired regarding the sizc of t ht» slat-;*? at the Town Hall, ami the conveniences for trapeze and Roman ring displays. It was stated Hie stage was 21 feet by 10 feet, and (he curtain would he .‘ill lent by 10 feet. The height t" the ceiling from the stage was 15 feet 8 inches. The visit ( if this troupe was fixed for Boxing night, and the three nights following. The party will number 12 young lady performers, with a change of programme each night. • ( Miss A. A. Adams, Papanui. offered her services as organiser lor fancy dancing etc.—Received, no opening at present being available. Greymouth Municipal Band wrote in respect to visits to the Exhibition, amt it was resolved to arrange for a visit on Jubilee Day (January Oth). Revd. Jtts. Chatteris, Reef ton, wrote in respect to a visit oi the Reefton Kilties, and the Secretary was instructed to reply. The Chairman reported generally ill regard to arrangements made for entertainments while in Christchurch. —Approved. The General Secretary reported in respect to visits of the Rnnangn and Greymouth Bands. The iormer was the champion “IT’ grade hand of the Dominion. It was resolved to complete the arrangements entered into. A considerable time was devoted to drafting an entertainment scheme lor the 12 nights the Exhibition would he open. This was drawn tip in detail and will he submitted to the Executive Council meeting for approval. Gn every evening of the period ol the Exhibition there will be a distinctive form of entertainment in lltc Town Hall. Tentative arrangements for the nse of pianos wore made, and sub-committees appointed to deal with sectional matters. Ti e meeting concluded at 3.35 p.m.
