At. Kumara Courtliourse yesterday before Mr Meldrum S.M., the commission of enquiry in respect to the maintenance of the streets of Kumara affected by traffic from the Grey and Westland Counties, was continued. As before, Mr Kitehingliam appeared for Kumara Borough Council, Mr Joyce for the Grey County Council, and Mr Park for the Westland County Council. At a meeting of the Roefton Committee ol the West Coast Exhibition hold on Monday evening, it was resolved that the Director of the lieefum School of Mines prepare an exhibit ol minerals of the district lrom the Rtelton School ol .Mines, and that Messrs liolitho Bros, he asked to provide an exhibit of alum shale from Lankey’s Creek. Mr Brett suggested that each coal mine owner quarry a block ot coal two feet square; this would make a good exhibit. Mr Brett was authorised to attend to this part of the exhibits, the Committee to pay for transportation. Mr Brett reported that lie found sporting exhibits particularly hard to get. He had got a splendid fallow buck's head, amt was promised another. Others In had inspected were not sufficiently good, iuhad a fine picture of a Gib. salmi n and had selected sonic pictures, in-
