Mr Irvii.’ reported on his action in taking tome of the senior scholars to the beach to help ill clearing up the seafront, with the purl.use of giving lb.on an extra idea in eit izensbip.- -Received and action approved. From Rector (Mr I'. Irvine) reporting ilie average roll for October was 420 and average attendance .‘‘9o; the Inspector had made his annual inspection: the results of the teachers' examinations showed that Misses K. Dale and K. Ferguson had obtained their (’. certificate: and Air A. Aitken had obtained a partial pass; that some repairs were needed and that the gale had blown down several spans of the
fences ; that the Rector's residence needed repairs and renovation.— Received: repairs to he attended to. Mr Heinz moved that prizes be given I to the scholars this year and that to I raise funds the Rector be asked to arrange for an elocutionary competition among the scholars. He thought they should inaugurate the proposal as it. would also do good for the scholars’ education. Seconded by Mr Preston, who thought it was time for the teachers id do more to push the school along. The motion was agreed to. It was resolved to meet the stall on Monday j next at 7.3(1 p.m. to arrange details of j the suggestion. | Alter discussion Air Heinz moved j that the annual school excursion he j held about the beginning of February j subject to it being organised by other I public bodies. Seconded by Air Preston and carried. ATr Heinz (visiting committee) re-J ported on a number of small repairs requiring attention.— Received. Messrs l.loyd and Afnckay were appointed visitors.
The offer of Mr P. Coyle to supply gravel was accepted. Some small accounts were passed for payment. The Committee rose at 8.30 p.m.
