Miss Lily Phillips, daughter of Mr C. Phillips, tailor, of Westport, met with a very serious accident at the Karamea wharf last evening. It appears that the little child was playing on the sleepers and they fell on her breaking her leg between tin* knee and ankle and inflicting a severe wound. Despite her injuries the child hobbled home to the Grand Hotel where her grandmother lives. She was later taken to the Hospital and operated on l>v Dr Foote,

A malicious action, in turning on the water in a lire lm-e in the uppei corridor of the Town Hall, Groymoiith on Thursday night, led to considerable damage being done to tbe ceilings and wjill- of tbe rooms on the ground floor. The waier was discovered to he turned on at about 10.30 lU'i.. then been running for -ome time, and lau* yesterday afternoon ilie water wa- still leaking through.
