Faith is the mainspring of hope, and the fountain whence progress is derived. Faith inspires works, begets confidence, and brings enlightenment. It has been defined most ablv of all ns ‘‘the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith also brings understanding and induces a frame of mind giving peace and contentment, where before there was doubt and difficulty. Above all, fault inspires confidence and gives assurance, ft is a condition of mind primarily which promotes trust, and creates a fco'ing and a disposition it is difficult to gunge. Faith is being aroused to a high degree bv the Hickson mission. 'lbis mission
is causing a wave or faith as it were, to sv.eep over all parts of the Dominion. It must do much good—this awakening of conscience and the desire for the reliance it rails for. Manv great achievements have keen accomplished only through the propelling force of faith. Noble deeds have Lee it performed, and wonders, seemingly, .<ecomplished solely because those inspired were working under a high sense of feeling best deserilied as faith. Many mountains of difficulty have been overcome solely by perseverance, which derived its motive from the spirit of faitfi. Great enterprises huve been nocomplished in; the face of so-called super-human difficulties because of the persistent- dogged spirit, animating the

In. other pails of the world, and in other times, the faithful have had their reward. A like degree of achievementis being accomplished in the Dominion where patient preparation is made, and faith is earnestly disphiyed. There are those who have displayed their faith in the prospects ot the Exhibition, for instance. Thai i' a large venture, requiring confidence, to assure satisfactory accomplishment. Those who are satisfied that the Exhibition is going to he the success it now gives promise 01. tint reflet t their own faith, in the initial undertaking. Were the promoters not full ol taith in the ultimate outcome ol the project, they would have lacked the courage to attempt the task set themselves. But aleady their faith is being justified.
