The federation seeks increases in the wages ol galley stall's amounting to from .02 Gs 8d to £1 8s fid per month, while the company counter-claims for a reduction in pay of £2 3s Til per month. The highest wage asked by the employees is £23 10s Gd per month for chief cook on intercolonial and foreigngoing steamers, and the lowest wage in the scheduled demands is £IG in tincase of a Bf-ulloryman, who now receives til 13s Id. The federation asks lor £lO while the company demands a reduction to £9 Ids. This is tin- greatest variation between the claims and cinin-ti-r-ihiims. Other main clauses in the dispute relate to the hours of labour, which tin- fedi-r.mou wishes ■t o be reduced from ten to eight, and over-time, which the workers want increased from ■_>, to 3s per hour, as against a reduction u, Is ltd. sought bv the employees.
