The sum that Harold Lowry Pennyaccountant, should lie awarded on ne count of injuries inflicted on him by Edward Sherrington's car in an accident on Papanui Road, was considered by Justice Sim. and a jury of 12 at the Supreme Court to-day. Iho plaintiff claimed he was entitled to £2131 19s 4d. The defendant, who admitted liability, paid £750 into court. He pleaded that it was sufficient to satisfy the plaintiff. 'I ho jury returned a verdict ior £1299 3s -iii. being £ii'24 3s special damages. and £6 1 5 general damages. CHARGED WITH THEFT. WAIROA, Oct. 16. At the Magistrate's Court this afternoon. Henry Thomas Doyle, with nine previous convictions, was charged "ith theft of vegetables and with being u.t lawfully on the premises of the Boating Club. lie was sentenced to six months hard labour, and two years’ reformative treatment.
