There are indications oi another boom period from the statistics of six months revenue mad,' available by the Minister of Customs. The revenue figures show a big increase in llie main article- J import with a ienuirkablc growth in volume of unitor cars coming into the Dominion. Customs revenue for 'ho fir-t half of the current financial year totalled £3.373.101: compared with £?- 550.588 for the corresponding period last year, an increase of £813,8/3. The total number of motor vehicles imported during the last six months was 7.523. while the total for the boom vear of 192:1 was 11.921 or considerably less than double the present half year’s imports. In 1922 the number had lallen to 1./19. The revenue estimated by the I tender from Customs for the current financial year is seven millions sterling. \ s the best of the year is still to come, it is anticipated that the Customs revenue will exceed the estimate and may approach the total of £8,408.< 2b received in the boom year of 1920-21.
