ADDINGTON STOOK MARKET BEEF PRICES FIRMER. (By Telegraph.—Special to Cuardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store sheep.—A very small entry, comprised of wethers and hoggets, which seld it oil. Forward wethers ale to 375; others from 28s (s<l to 31s: best J bred wetehr hoggets up to 3Ls (hi, others from 25s to 275: best 1 bred wether hoggets 22s to 25s 7d : ewes and lambs all counted 21s (id.
Store cattle.—A large yarding mostly liodeseript lots and generally lacking in quality. A large attendance ol buyers and the demand was keen, the market showing an advance on last week. One pen of 3-year old steers made to £7 17s lid. Other quotations were as follows—3-yr. steers £6 19s to £7; 2-yr steers £3 10s to £3 l.s fid; Yearlings 29s to 3(b : 2-yr heifers £2 1 9s to C 3 15s: yearling ditto 33s to 40s. Cows from 29s to 555.
Rigs.—A small entry of fat pigs, the demand being keen. Bacotiers sold firmly at hue rate rates and porkers improved in price. Light haeoners, £4 to £4 It's; heavy £4 I's to £5 10s; average price 7d to 7.U1. Light porkers 50s to 555, heavy (>os to 70s. average price 9d to lOd. Choppers £3 10s to £6 12s.
Store nigs.—A medium entry, values ruling the same as last week. Values were.—YVcnners 22s to 28s; small stores 21s to 20s ; medium 28s to 38s; large, 15s to 50s. Sows in pig, £4 10s to £6; sows and litters to £B.
Beef.—A large yarding, comprising only 315 head, ineluding a lew North Island cattle shut nut from last week. No Southland cattle were yarded. The quality generally was good, and although- tlie market showed an average rise of 20s to 255, per head the sale was very irregular. Prime medium weight cattle sold best. Prime steers £17”.5s to £2O. extra to £22 10s: medium £l3 to £lO 15s; others £9 to
£l2 10s; prime heifers £ll ]os to £l4, extra to Lid 7s fid, medium £8 10s. Prime cows CIO to- £l3, extra £l4 17s (id; others £•"> 10s to £9 10s.
Mutton.—A larger yarding than last week, hut following on the last two small yardings. butchers evidently wero short, consequently the market opened at about last week’s rates, and if anything tinned as ft progressed. There was no appretiahle diitorouco in quotations from last week.
