CTIAAIPTONSHJPS. AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION. (Received this day at 8 a.in.) MELBOURNE, Sept, 26. The second round of the Australasian boxing championships resulted in keen contests. The New Zealanders, by forceful lighting, acquitted themselves well.
Wood outpointed Eaton in a close contest. There was much infighting.
Purdy outpointed Barber. Purdy forced the first and seconds rounds which were even. In the third I’urdv scored with left leads. In the tourth. clever footwork was displayed.
Thompson outpointed Sliegog who. took punishment gamely. .McDonald outclassed Dwyer who went down for nine in the first rounsil, hut stayed gamely. AfcDonaltl scored with left and rights to the head throughout. A!nir was always leading Alaync. The referee slopped the fight a minute altei the fourth round started. MELBOURNE, Scot, 20. Lightweight.—C. Sinclair (Queensland)' knocked out 11. Kane (Victoria) in Hie second round. Kane went down to four in the first round to a neat right cross. Welterweight.—A. Brown (N.S.AV.) knocked out C. Ncilson (Queensland) in the fourth round. The loser won the first round hut was outclassed thereafter. Bantamweight.—P Boynton fN.S.AV.) knocked out Griffiths (New Zealand) in Hi,, third round, after a good contest. Griffiths was leading on points. Bantamweight .—ll. Wood (Tasmania' feat AY. Eaton (Queensland). Featherweight.—Purdy heat T. Barber (N.S.AA.). bight weight.—Thompson (N.S.AV.) heat AY. Sliegog 'Tasmania). AYelterweight.—AY. AlcDonahl heat T. Dwyer (Tasmania).
