British and Intercolonial Exhibition at Hokitika.
TRAXSI’OR.T COMAIITTEE. FRIDAY. SEPT. 21st. A meeting of tile Transport Committee was held at the County Chambers at 3.45 o'clock. Present: Afr P. Renton (in the chair), Alessrs Payne. Eleock and Urquhart. A tender for tho cartage of Exhibition goods front F. 44’. Thompson was received. The tender was accepted, subject to confirmation by the Exhibition Council.
It- was resolved to have the railway fares set out in the “Tours to the Exhibition'’ revised, with a view of showing the reduced amount when the Railway Department takes the through control of the Tunnel section. It was resolved to write to the Motor Proprietors with regard to hooking district- tours, and if the inducement offered, to open a Bureau of Information at the Exhibition buildings, with the suggestion that a capable person be placed itt charge to advise and assist with regard to district- tours over the period of the Exhibition. The Chairman undertook to place the information in respect to this matter before the Exhibition Council meeting on Monday evening. It was further resolved to write to the District Traffic Manager with regard to free carriage of New Zealand manufactured exhibits to and from the Kxi-oition, and to ask for particulars as t-o regulations under which the conces.
