A WORLD’S CHAAIPTON. (Received this day at S a.m.) NEW YORK. Sept. 15. For the fourth successive year Tilden won the national singles championship. 1-le had the match well in hand from the outset. He played a careful game remaining at the hack ot the court lor most of the contest, llis accuracy was uncanny and made Johnston race about the Court, giving him no opportunity to use his deadly foiehaud drives. The champion at the start of every set showed brilliant work and splendid driving, rushing through Johnston with ease. His oponent gamely battled every point. There was a record crowd until the end.
