OBITUARY

ARCHIBALD LITTLE

The death took place this morning of an old and respected citizen, All Archibald Little, the well-known hoot maker of Revdl Street. Deceased was a native of Craigieham, Antrim, lieland, and there he learnt his trade. He was 83 years of ago. He went to Australia in' 1803 and opened in business in Alary borough till 18(57, when ho came to Hokitika and has resided here every since, carrying on his well known business. He was amongst the first of the volunteer force and was captain of the Hokitika cadets for some years. Deceased was of a quiet disposition and made a large circle of friends. He was taken ill a feu days ago while at work, and gradually sank. He leaves a widow and family of throe daughters (Airs G. Wormington, Mrs Aloorc and Airs ,T .B. Brown of Hokitika) and three sons (James of Wellington, Archibald and William of Kokatalii). The relatives will hate the sympathy of many friends in the passing of a sterling citizen. JAMES BIGG. Another sterling pioneer, Mr .Tames Bigg, J.P. of Kttmara, passed away this morning at AAestland Hospital. The deceased who was a native ot England and had reached the ripe age of 92 years, was a single man. He had been connected with mining operations on the A\ est (.oast since the rush and for many years was manager of (ho Greenstone Sluicing Claim and other mining operations in Greenstone district. A tine example of the old miner, ho was generally es teemed.

JOHN BEROZ. The death took place -yesterday of an old resident at Westland Hospital, where he had been an inmate for some time, Air John Beroz passing away. He was a native of Austria, a single man and 62 years of age and for many years had been engaged in mining at South Hokitika. He leaves a nephew, Air Janies Beroz, of Hokitika.
