Now that the Otria tuncl has been completed and the Midland Railway opened, the Marlborough Progress League intends to leave no stone unturned to secure the active prosecution of the tilling of the gap on the South Islam! Main Trunk line connecting Piet.'ju and the ton and Bluff.

The League this week further discussed the arrangement for the delegation to Christchurch. It was decided to make the visit in Xovemlter, a resolution being carried that the represenabout Show time, and further, that the represniatives of the League proceed from Christchurch to the A\ est Coast and hack to Blenheim via the Buller. meeting the AA’est Coast, Buller and Nelson Progress Leagues on route.

The South Marlborough Progress League. Kaikoiirn, wrote asking for support in urging the completion ol the Main Trunk Railway from Picton to Bluff, and stating that it was also asking for the support- of the Canterbury League. It was decided to notify the South Marlborough League of the above proposals and to ask for their support in connection with the proposed visit to Canterbury. The Buller Progress League wrote extending to the delegation an invitation to visit AA’estport on their return journey. and mentioning that the Buller League had decided to assist the Marlborough League in any movement for the linking tip of Marlborough with and Buller district. f. Both bodies are to he written and acquainted with the details oi the ptoposed trip. The secretary was instructed to communicate with kindred organisations at Timn.ru. Clamant. Dunedin and Invercargill. setting forth the advantages of the lino from an economic and a national point of view, and asking for support. , , It was also decided to endeavour, to enlist support, for the project in A\ ellington.
