WilFord denies the ‘'Guardian' 1 interview wherein he is reported as saving that the Protestants in Xcw Zealand did not support the Marriage Bill. Air Wilford explained that when questioned on the Bill he -aid that the heads of the Anglican Church in Xew Zealand wer c opposed to the measures, but it was supported by the various Protestant bodies, including a section of the Anglican Church. The statement attributed to him was a misstatement which ho neither accepted nor condoned.

A young mail and a woman who were found shot dead in the National Park at Belair have been identified as Dennis Hudson and Kathleen Yeamans. The couple, alter going t hrougl, a form of marriage in West Australia last month, departed for Adelaide. The mother of the girl futilel.v attempted to persuade her to leave Hudson. It. was subsequently aseer tained that the latter, who represented himself as well connected in England and shortly to inherit a large amount, was an Imperial pensioner with a .wile and family. The trngedy is a mysterv.
HICKSON MISSION. AUCKLAND, Sepl. 11. The appointment of a Committee re presenting the churches and medical profession and including Lawyer Usgogly, was urged by Canon James, Vicar of St. Alary’s Cathedral. Tn a statement regarding the Hickson mission lie sa.vs the fact that no attempt seems to have been made to verify the reports of many remarkable cures, it is not creditable tn the Anglican Church which had scattered them broadcast. He pleads with friends of the mission that they will, in the interests of truth, endeavour to remedy idiN great defect in Australia and elsewhere.
Bishop Averil denies the statement circulated, that Mr Hickson will receive thirty-five thousand pounds for (Lining to Xew Zealand. He says Afr Hickson nays his own travelling and hotel expenses and the only .nonay received by him is anything -pvvinlly given to him. which is placed in a special box.
