ANOTHER FLOOD.
IX MARLBOROUGH. BLEXHKIM. Sept. 11. A fresh occurring in the Mai ran River, ns the result of intermittent min. which Ims fallen since Saturday nhdit. has created considerable damage to''the new embankments which have been erected. At Whittle's Bend work has been proceeding nicely on banking repairs, hut this flood will mean a setback of easily a fortnight. Yesterday the fresh commenced to make its presence felt when it attacked the new banking near Matthews’ where it joins the old bank. Here a large gap was made.
The flood to-day began to eat away the soft earth bank in several places, but more particularly at a point where a culvert was lieing installed m the ''"Vhe flood is not- one of great dimensions. and although water is now running through Craven’s property, and along its cross-country course, the inundation is not doing much damage to the farm lands, which, as yet. bate not been put under cultivation since the big flood.
