BULLER REPRESENTATION

(AVostport News). The matter of Boiler representation at the Hokitika Exhibtion made a distinct forward move on Saturday evening, when Mr L. J. Schmitt, officer in charge of N.Z. Government Department of Industries and Commerce, met lho executive committee in tho Town Hall ami discussed with the committee and later with the public meeting, presided over by the Mayor, various phases of the question. Mr Schmitt enlarged on the value to the district of the publicity regarding its resources, the Exhibition afforded, instanced good results that had accrued in Christchurch distinctly traceable to exhibits shown at the Industrial Exhibition mentioned that all exhibits would he carried free on tho railway, and suggested that the Westport executive build in AVostport. in parts so as to lie able to take the structure down again, the stand lor its exhibits and show t hese first in AA eslport, making a charge to see them such money to be used to help to defray part of the tost of taking up space at the exhibition. Mr Schmitt further mentioned that he had arranged itineraries, beginning at Dunedin and finishing there via Christchurch. Greymouth. Hokitika, Reofton, AVostport, Nelson, Blenheim and Kaikouras, another from Auckland crossing the Straits to I’icton and from there coming on via towns including AAostport. Details of cost were all worked out. It was recognised that the Exhibition was to lie a great success and large business firms in the main centres were vicing for space. He bad come to AA'ostport to -ice what was being done in order that bo might report progress to a public meeting at Hokitika on AA’ednesday. The meeting took enthusiastically to suggestions made by Mr Schmitt and appointed members to inquire regarding industries and to tcpnrl to a further meeting at 5.15 p.m. on Thursday.
