THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.

In Praise ok the Cricket Ball. I wish to sing the praises of the Ball as an Empire-builder. We have many recognised links in the silken chain that holds together this marvellous Empire of ours. AVe have n. common system of government; we have interchange of trade, fostered with preferential tariffs; we have the Rhodes Scholarship system; and we have the experiences, the glories and 1 lie sacrifices of the Great AVar.

But I think the part played by the hall also deserves recognition, for our sports and pastimes form a strong tie with the Homeland. Wherever tho Britisher has gone he has taken his cricket hall with him.
