THOUGHTS FOR THE TIMES.

Labor Ideals. “I have an ideal for the Labour Party. I want it to bo composed of the finest men and the finest women in the whole country. I want it to be composed of the working men who stand head and shoulders above the others. I want it to be composed of men and women of all classes who think- coolly and act courageously. I want it to 1* inspired by ideas ana by ideals. Tbe time has come afebr many generations when democracy—the control of the common people, as they are called—is going to be steadily established without a revolution, but ‘by the 'operation of Parliamentary procedure by the power of the ballotbox. I want the Labour Party to be a party of brains arid a "party of character.” —Mr Ramsay MacDonald.
