FOOTBALL.

The Westport "News” commenting on the schools football’match, Westport, v. Hokitika at Westport on Thursday, saysHokitika also showed line points in the game, some ot the passing movements being very skilfully executed. Tainui and the two Mason brothers especially shone. Had their handling of the hall been a little more accurate, when attacking, Hokitika would have made a better score. As it was, the score by Hector Mason followed a very fine piece of missing in which, the hall travelled from the hack of the scrum on one side of tho field through four or five hands to Hector Mason, who finished oil with a beautiful run and score. It; was a pretty piece of play, which was well applauded. Tainui is a beautiful kick. He gave fine high punts, enabling his side to come up with the fall of tho hall and time and again thus caused trouble to the local hacks. Houston, Slopforth and Pearson also did good work for the Hokitika hacks, whilst King. Kelly brothers, Emmett, Ogilvie and Shannon and Co. were always handy when work was required to he done. On the day’s play, the score, Westport 20, Hokitika 8. is a very fair indication of the play. Weslport held the upper hand most of the game , but Hokitika on occasions pressed the attack severely and narrowly missed additional scores.
