A big enthusiastic crowd witnessed the llokitika-Westport Technical school football match this afternoon for the Newman Shield. The game was won by the Westport team by 21) to 8. There was perfect weather. It was a clean open game throughout, and was well contested, being played in a fine spirit. Technical scored five tries, one '.icing converted, and also kicked a penalty goal. Hokitika school got two tries, one being converted. Tainui, of Hokitika, stod out as the best back on the field. WIN FOR WAIROA. GISBORNE. Sept. 3. There was excellent weather and a good attendance for the Rugby match Wairoa v. Waikohu Sub-Union. Wairoa won by 22 points to nil, showing a marked superiority in all departments of the game. Stewart. (2), Ormond, Corkhill, and Solvnnder scored tries and Ormond kicked a penalty, and converted two tries.
