[by telegraph—rr.it press association.] MOTORISTS CONFER. WELLINGTON. Aug 9. “We should have a uniform traflie .signal. Every motorist- should know it,” said Mr C. M. Banks (President of the X.Z. Automobile Union) at the annual meeting to-day. He moved a resolution in this direction, which was adopted; and particulars and illustrations are to ho sent io all motor associations, with a recommendation that they he adopted. It was decided to get in touch with all Motorists’ Associations and ascertain heir views, and then take action., ft was stated the Motor Vehicles Bill was absolutely essential. The question of dazzling headlights was diseased, but no decision was arrived at. The subject was referred to til" incoming executive. The level '•rossing question was discussed, and the opinion was expressed that the prevent regulations were a fane, being unreasonable and impossible to comply with. The Minister of Railways is to he asked to unu-ml the regulations and consult tho union.

(.Received this day at 9.T5 a.m.) LONDON. Aug. 9. Accounts of the -Miners’ Federation for the year ended .June 001 h, reveal an excess of expenditure over income of €-1-1,875. The figures show that, the Union lost €38,103 by its investment in the “Daily Herald.”
