The second reading of the War Pensions Aim ii'lmeiit Bill was moved In °:r E. 11. D. Bell, who said that it wtiproposed to introduce by Governor’s message some amendments, one of which would have the effect of allowing a soldiers’ representative on the Appeal Board to he elected direct by the sol diers. There would also he .amend tnenls as ro the principles which should guide the Pensions Board and the Appeal Board. The second reading was agreed to and the Bill was put through Committee, without amendment. The third reading was set down for next T uesday. The Council rose at ft.-15 p.m.
THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. The House spent the day discussing tli!- Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Amendment Bill in Committee. The P : |] was accepted in principle, minor amendments only being moved. It was then read a third time and passed. The House rose at 10.45 p.m. till 2.30 p.m.
