I Arthurstown Road was repaired with | river beach gravel from the Borough I Boundary to Hokitika River Tralliii Bridge excepting on short portion j which will occupy two days to re-pair. 1 The County portion will lln-n be in j good order. Repairs wero elfeeted to Kumara Junction Road by patching the worst portions with gravel. Defective decking replaced on platform culverts and pits stripped in readiness lor obtaining gravel for repair.-, to Kumara Jum-tii-.it. Tcp-makaii Bcat-1\ and Larrikins Loopline roads. Portions of Larrikin’s Loopline, Watson's ami T-uemakau Reach reads were repaired with gravel. A detective culvert a few chains beyond Totara Bridge was removed ami replaced with Din. diameter concrete pipes, and a portion of the road between the foot of the bill and Donnelly’s Greek Bridge repaired with gravel. Wnilnha Settlement Road was raked in and metal broken in the had holes, and general attention given to repairs to toveiiug o! culvert and decking of bridges. 'lhe Roadman attended to repairs of various roads and j spreading of metal on the roads in the liarihari district. Influenza has inI terferred greatly with the working eonI ditions in the southern and northern j Hidings during the month. NEIi.SON ROAD. 1 have to report as instructed, upon the application of W. Little of Koiti rangi for improved access to bis bolding on Neiison Road. At present this portion of Neiison Road is lormed from Municipal Road to beyaml tlie southern boinidarv ot I.ittie Rrgs. bolding, but the constant cattle traffic lias rendered the formation soft and boggy for a distance fo 650 links. Portions of the formation requires raising and bog boles filled with sound material and then coated with manuka scrub seven ieot in length and twelve inches in height before being metalled. Gravel six feet in width and twelve inches lit height placed on loose manuka fascine, would he sufficient for present requirements, and the cost would be £<> ‘or reforming and £l4 for gravel. Metal i> very scarce in this locality, am! will require carting a distance of 40 chains. In addition the only available pit is not more than two feet in depth. Total cost involved £AO.
