WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. LKGISLATIV E COUNCI L. Tlio Legislative Council sat at 2.30 pan. The Savings Hank Amendment Bill, Cook and Other Islands Amendment Hill, and the Immigration Restriction Amendment liill were read a first time. Industrial and Provident Societies Amendment Bill was put through Committee with technical amendments, and passed. The registration of Aliens Suspension Rill was put through all stages without discussion and passed. The Companies Amendment Bill went through all stages without discussion and was passed. At 3 p.m. the Council rose till Wediiesdnv next.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m. In the House of Representatives the whole afternoon sitting was taken up with a discussion on the Public Health Report. At 7.30-p.m. the Minister of I'cnsiniis introduced an amendment to the War Pensions Act, which lie claimed would augment the pensions of incapacitated soldiers and dependants by £BO,OOO pci annum. The House then proceeded to discuss the Estimates which provided for Treasury £32,858, Land and Income Tax Department £53,717, Stamp Department £BO,IOI, National Provident and Friendly Societies Department £21.-193, Public. Buildings and Domains £105.257, Maintenance of Roads £05,000, Maintenance of Irrigation Works C3OAO, all these items being passed. The House rose at 12.52.
